Welcome to the website of the Crich Heritage Partnership which was formed to help conserve and maintain the heritage of Crich Parish, but also the history of this corner of south east Derbyshire

Our interests cover the history of Crich, Fritchley, Whatstandwell, Lea and Holloway and that of the surrounding areas.

Our aim is to help keep people informed about our rich heritage and history. Made especially so as we are situated on the bottom right side of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site.

We hold meetings throughout the year which everybody is welcome to attend. You will find a programme on the next page.

If you are interested in the history of Crich and its surrounding area, please come and join us.

In 1940 work began on the construction of a brand new foundry at the Stanton Ironworks. Designed to produce an average of 100 bomb casing per hour, the foundry which began operating just 14 months later, eventually turned out around 873,500 bomb cases, supplying both the R.A.F. and the U.S. Air forces.
